Triphala Dosage: How to Take Triphala

We are sure it is needless to mention or go through the many benefits Triphala has to offer. However, things become a bit more sensitive if we talk about dosage as this depends on what you want to heal, prevent or obtain. You can use Triphala as powder, tablets or juice, depending on what suits you better. Traditionally it is taken in the powder form.

Triphala dosage for detox

People often think of Triphala as a laxative, but it is actually a bowel tonic, helping the colon function at its optimal level. Of course, if you suffer from constipation or diarrhea, this incredible herb helps bring your eliminative system to the right parameters.

The traditional way to take Triphala is as a tea. This is a perfect way actually as you can taste the herb fully. Ayurvedics believe taste is a very important part of the healing process. This starts the digestive process and sends signals to the body as to what to expect.

  • ½ teaspoon of Triphala powder
  • 1 ½ cup of water

Stir and allow the tea to cool and drink.

Triphala dosage for weight loss

In a recent study, it was proven that people who used 5 gms of Triphala churna (powder) for over a period of 3 months have lost 4.8 Kg or 10.5 pounds with no exercises what so ever and more importantly, with no side effects.

Recipe 1: Triphala in water

  • 1 teaspoon of Triphala (3-5 grams)
  • A glass of hot water

Mix the two until the powder is dissolved completely. Just make sure the water is only warm. We recommend one glass every day.

Recipe 2: Triphala in tablet form

  • 1 tablet per day
  • Warm water

Warm water is easily processed, therefore, it is better to take it with a glass of warm water.

Recipe 3: Triphala with honey

  • 1 teaspoon / 5 grams of Triphala Churna powder
  • 1 spoon of honey

This can be consumed for approximately 3 months to lose the excess body weight. If you decide to take it further, no problem.

Recipe 4: Flaxseed Triphala Tea

  • 1 teaspoon of organic flax seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of psyllium fiber
  • 1 teaspoon of Triphala powder

Put a bowl of water on the stove and before it starts boiling, please add the flax seeds, the psyllium fiber and the triphala powder. After it is completely boiled, take it aside and wait for it to become warm. You can then add honey or milk for the taste. You can have it every day.

No matter which option you decide to take, we recommend using the organic Triphala– you can find different options on Amazon (where there is organic certified triphala and you can read reviews) – and also please discuss with a doctor before starting. In addition, check the Triphala Side-Effects.
